Introduction

Student teaching in science at URI involves a year long commitment between each teaching candidate and either one or two cooperating teachers. During the fall, each student is assigned their student placement (or placements if the candidate is seeking middle school endorsement) so that they can work with their cooperating teacher and their classes throughout the fall and spring.

The first step in this process is to find a suitable placement for each candidate. This process begins with each candidate completing the application for student teaching. We would prefer that candidates attend one of the SOE meetings in the spring, but if this is not possible, and you are planning to student teach in the coming year, you should:

  1. Print Application for Student Teaching shown below.
  2. Complete each section of the form except the two sections that should be completed by your advisor.
  3. Make an appointment and return this form to Jay Fogleman in 711 Chafee ASAP.
Note: Not completing these steps promptly could affect your final placements.
